Yanga Chief dedicates latest single to mom ahead of Mother’s Day

by Sergio Miller

With Mother’s Day being just days away, many are pulling out all the stops to ensure that they make the day extra special for the women who have raised them to become who they are today.

Among these is rapper and record producer Yanga Chief. After having this project in the pipeline for a number of years, the talented musician has been eagerly awaiting for the right moment and figured that the time to release his brand-new single ‘Mbali Yam’ was finally right.

The song is dedicated to his mother, a school teacher who not only made an impact in his life, but the lives of everyone she taught over the years.

In a recent post shared on Instagram for her birthday, he wrote:

“To the coolest Mom in the world. If you ever had a mom as a teacher, you know you have to share her with her students.”

“You’ve raised warriors in your own home and many giants in different classrooms. Thank you for being so giving with your time and with your heart.”

In an interview with news publication IOL, he shared that he doesn’t always get to spend as much time as he would like with his mother, however, whenever he performs at a show, there are always people who come up to him and share that they were taught by his mom and that warms his heart.

“I spend so much time in Joburg and these people have spent more time with her through her teaching them. I thought let me release it now, my mom is still alive, it’s around Mother’s Day. Everything made sense,” he says.
