A video of Lehlogonolo Katlego Chauke famously known as Shebeshxt giving a male fan his Hennesy whisky bottle during his stage performance made its way to the fan’s mother who wasn’t impressed with the singer’s kind gesture.

The video which trended on social media platforms left many with conflicting views as many saw the gesture in a good light, while others felt like he was promoting alcohol use.

After seeing the video, Mrs Quick Maria, the fan’s mother turned to the leading local blog Maphephandaba to raise her concern over Shebe’s gesture.

On the blog’s direct message (DM), the mother shared:

“Hi Maphephandaba, I’m so heartbroken. A friend of mine sent me a video of Shebeshxt performing on stage and giving my son a bottle of Hennessy as a fan.”

The concerned mother continued:

I’m in Limpopo, my son is a “chef” student and all we know is that he’s at school in PTA. Seeing him at an event, receiving a bottle of whiskey from Shebe.”

Unable to understand Shebe’s actions, the mother further said, “He knows his fans are kids. Why didn’t he give him a schoolbag or a cap instead… A whiskey.”

She also wanted to know if she was overreacting or not.

Internet users reacted to the mother’s complaint, with many sharing that the mother was overreacting, they shared:

Mother is complaining about a reasonable thing, but even though Shebe didn’t give him a bottle of alcohol, that boy is already a drunkard, just that the mother didn’t know. pic.twitter.com/YDa9QXTeXH

The mother’s line of thinking though ??a schoolbag while he’s already carrying one at the gig? ???? Atleast he got something to put inside the bag now pic.twitter.com/401P7jFIti
