Springboks’ coach Rassie Erasmus to be addressed as Dr. after graduating with doctorate

It looks like the South African rugby union coach and former player Johan Rassie Erasmus is not only a rugby expert but also good a powerful figure when it comes to nation building and restoring South African pride.

The 51-year-old was awarded an honorary doctorate in discipline Coaching Science under the Health Science faculty at the North-West University in Potchefstroom.

The University took to their social media pages to share the pictures of the two-time Rugby World Cup winning coach. In their caption they wrote, “A monumental day at the NWU Potchefstroom Campus @bokrugby Captain @siyakolisi strolls down Lovers Lane with the Webb Ellis World Cup Trophy, setting the stage for Rassie Erasmus’ Honorary Doctorate inauguration.”

Springboks’ fans flooded the comment section with congratulatory messages, “Congratulations Dr. Erasmus! You deserve it Coach. NWU – what an example do you set! Well, done.”

“Our country has many faultiness and that is how we win. Thanks @my_nwu for bringing magic to Potchefstroom and NW in this special way.”

“Congratulations Coach!!! Dr Rassie Erasmus,” wrote another user.

Another one said, “Nice Potch, this is how one does business. They don’t know what we know, and the world’s eyes are on NWU.”

The Springboks captain Siya Kolisi who relocated to Paris to afer winning the World Cup was in attendance of the ceremony to support his coach. Sharing a picture of them together, he wrote, “Big day for Dr Erasmus ! Congrats coach.”
