DJ Tira suffers major loss after his Afrotainment studio was broken into

Multi-award-winning musician and businessman Mthokozisi Khathi, famously known as DJ Tira has been a victim of theft after his record studio Afrotainment was broken into, and equipment worth millions of rands was stolen.

The incident occurred on Wednesday at the singer’s previous home in Durban which he turned into a studio.

The news was reported by local publication ZiMoja who shared that apart from the expensive instruments, speakers and sound system, the thieves also took unreleased music belonging to Dladla Mshunqisi and Bulo.

Speaking to the publication, office manager Samkelo Mpisane shared that the burglary occurred at night, adding:

“They took everything, you can tell that they have been planning this robbery.”

Detailing how this occurrence has affected them, Samkelo said, “We had so many things planned and this has set us back big time.”

At the time of the incident, Dj Tira who has offered a reward of R20k to anyone who has information on the whereabouts of his assets, is said to have been at Maboneng Precinct, in Joburg.

Speaking to the publication, the No Rush hitmaker shared, “What hurts the most is the fact we lost music and some of our artists were preparing to release their albums soon and all their efforts are gone just like that.”

Those close to the Afrotainment boss also spoke to the publication with one source stating that the deejay and his team suspect that the robbers knew that the cameras were not working.

The source also added:

“No stranger can jump and break a gate, these are the people who know Tira’s whereabouts and the fact that cameras were not working.”

The news was also shared by news publication, MDN News on their social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter).

There is been a robbery at Afrotainment studio. Recording systems were stolen.
