Music producer and businessman Chicco Sello Twala shares that he will not testify at Senzo Meyiwa’s murder trial.

This comes after accused number one’s lawyer asked the court to subpoena him for testimony, together with singer and mother of Senzo’s daughter Kelly Khumalo, and Orlando Pirates chairman Dr Irvin Khoza.

Senzo Meyiwas was shot and killed at the home of his then pregnant girlfriend Kelly Khumalo in October 2014.

Since his murder, his trial has taken many turns with more testimony suggesting that there was no intruder on the day, but that, the Orlando Pirates captain was killed by one of the people in the house.

Accused number one Muzi Sibiya’s lawyer, Thulani Mngomezulu read a statement in court which stated that Senzo’s older brother, Sifiso Meyiwa shared in statement that between the years 2014 and 2018, he gave detectives three statements stating that Dr Ivan told him there were no intruders present at the Khumalo residence the day Senzo was killed and that what was publicly shared in the media was not what really occurred.

Part of the statement shared by local publication ZiMoja read reads:

“I would like to state that Mr Irvin Khoza told me that Senzo Meyiwa, my brother, was not shot by robbers. These were the actual words of Mr Irvin Khoza. Sifiso also noted that what led to his brother’s murder was an altercation between Zandile Khumalo and her then boyfriend Longwe, who is Chicco’s son.

Speaking to the above mentioned publication, Chicco who does not feel that his testimony will help the case as his gun came back negative after it was taken for ballistics tests shared:

“What will the state get from me or Irvin’s testimony. We were not there when Senzo was killed. Dragging my name and Irvin into the Senzo Meyiwa murder case is nothing but attention seeking exercise by this fly-by-night advocate Mngomezulu. The man is just marketing himself not that he wants justice for Senzo. He is making noise about an old issue that was raised by Sifiso a while ago. Mngomezulu is beyond incompetent.”
