Following yet another victory at a celebrity boxing match held at the International Convention Centre in Durban, businessman Phumlani Njilo has his sights firmly set on facing a new worthy contender.

On Sunday evening, Phumlani won Skeem Saam actor Pholoso Mohlala by a knock out in the second round of their match. The recent victory is in addition to his previous in-ring success where he built himself quite a reputation, winning seven fights and only losing one over a period of five years.

Among some of the opponents who came second to the speed of the rapid fighter was rapper Big Zulu, who was defeated in their match in April last year.

In his match interview, he summed up what the victory meant to him while giving credit to the fight shown by his opposition.

In an interview with local publication Tshisalive he said:

“It feels great being crowned champion twice. My hard work at the gym is paying off.”

“Pholoso did well in the ring. I was surprised at how hard he hits and how technically sound he was. I thought it was going to be a much easier fight.”

With his confidence now at an all-time high, Phumlani seems eager to find someone good enough to pose a more challenging threat in the boxing ring.

Someone he believes might stand a chance is actor and musician Anga Makubalo popularly known as Naakmusiq.

The singer made quite an impression in 2022 when he successfully beat the, now unapologetic Christian Cassper Nyovest in 2022.

“Naak will not be easy to knock out. He’s got a strong chin, but he will not last more than four rounds in the ring with me.”
