Actress and author Bonnie Mbuli is currently living her dream as she finally got her big Hollywood break, starring in an AMC network production, Parish, playing the role of Shamiso Tongai.
This is the second time Bonnie has tried her luck in the US, as she moved with her then husband, actor Sisanda Henna to try and break in international film industry at the age 26.
The couple later realised that it was more difficult to break in the international film industry, later returning home after a few years abroad.
Detailing her struggles in the US, the actress who shared a video of herself doing hair and makeup, getting ready for the premier of her series Parish. The video was accompanied by a voice over summary of her past struggles in the US.
Even after her success acting career at home, with an international recognition after featuring in movies such as Catch A Fire along internationally renowned actors Derek Luke and Tim Robbins, Bonnie’s Hollywood dream was just not happening, leaving her young family struggling.
In the voice over she detailed, “We got so broke, at times we had to recycle water bottles to buy food.” The couple later returned home, with Bonnie’s mental health starting to deteriorate.
She noted, “I watched as my mental health plumed in, my marriage ended, and my faith lost its fire, I didn’t understand what had happened.”
Now standing in full circle, getting ready for her moment of celebration, she started her video commenting:
“Every celebration story begins somewhere else, in a place that looks nothing like it. After moving to LA a year and a-half ago, today marks premier of Paris US tv show on AMC, where I play the role of Shamiso, a series regular.”
Grateful to God for His presence in her life, she noted:
“Today, I sit here walking into a full circle moment knowing one thing for sure, God loves me more than the things he wants to give me. He will not leave me broken. He won’t stop pursuing us until our hearts are right in His hands.”
