‘I saw the stroke as a way for God to quieten my life’- Lira

South African singer Lira, real name Lerato Molapo, is recovering very well after she suffered a stroke while in Germany for a performance. After the stroke, the singer struggled to speak as it severely affected her speech. She later had to learn to speak through speech therapy.

Even though the singer’s speech hasn’t fully returned to what it was, she can now hold conversations and even sing, and it seems to be getting better each time she speaks.

While visiting SA FM’s Full Circle, hosted by former beauty queen Bridget Masinga, the Feel Good singer spoke about her stroke, sharing that she saw it as a way for God to work on her life.

“I never felt angry with God. I saw the stroke as a way for God to quieten my life. He showed me so much love. Through people, my family, and my fans, He showed me so much love. I have had a wonderful experience through my stroke recovery,” commented the singer.

Beaming with joy on her face, the multi-award-winning artist added, “I have enjoyed it.”

The singer posted the video clip of her SA FM visit on her Instagram page, captioning her post:

“Yesterday I was with the lovely @bridgetmasinga on her show #TheFullCircle on @safmradio – I get easily excited. There is so much to be excited about!!”

“What I meant to say was the stroke was a blessing to me because it showed me how to slow down and enjoy life and be in the moment. All of LIFE loved me – through my feelings, through the things that I was experiencing, through my friends, through my family, through my fans and people who were touched by my story. I experienced love like never before – and I absorbed it – I had time to absorb it,” added the Ngiyazifela hitmaker.

“I’m still learning a lot and integrating but I’m happy to be alive and well – that’s why I’m excited, I just can’t help it!”

Excited for her next live performance, the singer shared, “I look forward to seeing you at #BasslineFest on 25 May 2024, Africa Day!!! @basslinelive.”
