True love or sugar dad? Why some females prefer older men

We live in an age where a lot of what we do and how we navigate through our daily lives are a reflection of the company we keep and who we spend our time with.

The modern age has transcended many of the myths of the past with guys becoming the best of friends with females, polygamist relationships have been welcomed into society and women have begun dating guys who are much older than they are.

While there may have been myths that the mere reason for this is due to the financial security that older males can provide their young female partners with, thus becoming what is popularly known as a “sugar daddy” many instances have proven that this is not always the case.

This is because many modern-day couples have begun surpassing the 5- and 10-year anniversary milestones when it comes to their relationships – this should be an indication that these relationships revolve around more than just financial and material gain.

To further discover the reasons behind this, we have turned to a couple of reputable sources who have provided a number of reasons to why this occurs.

Greater life experience

It is no secret that the amount of life experience accumulated by a guy between the ages of 35 – 40 years old far outweighs that of a guy in his early 20’s.

According to relationship publication Marriage.com, older guys who are able to flash their material belongings such a decent vehicle, a place of his own, and dressing well are known to gain the attention of their female counter parts.

This is because these things are considered to be a sign that reflects unlocking the secrets to life’s success. It shows that they have gained a fair amount of experience about life throughout the years and their success is the evidence of them overcoming challenges.

In addition to this, the publication also adds, “Women’s preference for mature men often stems from valuing emotional maturity, empathy, and shared experiences.

“Mature men, having faced life’s challenges, may offer deeper connections, emotional support, and stability in relationships. Their resilience and ability to turn experiences into valuable lessons can be appealing.”

Social position

According to the above-mentioned publication another determining fact is that mature men are often well respected in their social circles. In addition, Marriage.com further explains that older men are viewed upon as being more traditional and because of this they treat their female partners extremely well.

“Many women appreciate that approach and enjoy being taken care of.”

Holding conversation

When it comes to a long lasting and healthy relationship, the key ingredient is often communication.

Lifestyle magazine MenXP explains that one of the things that women value is a man who is able to hold long and insightful conversation.

“The complimentary trait that comes with more wisdom is the ability to hold an interesting conversation for more than 30 minutes,” explains the above-mentioned source, emphasising that it does not necessarily have to revolve around sex.
