Xigubu hitmaker ventures into radio

Fiesta Black, famously known for her hit single Xigubu by DJ Ganyani, has ventured into the world of radio.

The singer – real name Thandi Nakampe Mokgoankgoa – who has been MIA (missing in action) from the music industry has returned and is set to be hosting an afternoon drive show on a commercial radio station called Energy FM in Limpopo from Mondays to Saturdays at 3 pm.

According to entertainment publication ZiMoja, the Xigubu hitmaker left the music industry after falsely accusing former Boom Shaka member Thembi Seete of stealing her song Thuntsha Lerole. This led to bad publicity for her which made it difficult to get bookings.

In a recent interview, the singer expressed how she struggled to pick herself up after everything that happened, saying:

“I thought I knew it all. I had arrived but little did I know that being a drama queen doesn’t pay the bills,” adding, “No one booked me. I had a bad reputation and did some pretty shameful things. But it was all part of learning and growing up.”

She told the entertainment publication that she has always loved radio and music and that she is excited about getting to interact with listeners as that keeps her motivated.

“I am gaining a whole lot of experience. I have even collaborated with a lot of artists and producers here at home working on great music and it has helped me to find myself again and what I love,” says Fiesta to the above-mentioned source.
