by Sergio Miller

Former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana defender, Siphiwe Mkhonza, has tragically passed away at the age of 45.

In a heartfelt statement, reportedly from Mkhonza’s family and shared by the SABC, it was revealed that the soccer icon had been battling a kidney infection for a while.

“Siphiwe was off-sick for a while and was unable to work due to illness. He will be missed by his colleagues and followers/viewers/listeners,” the family said

Mkhonza, affectionally known as “Dr Mnandi”, was a football commentator for SABC.
