WATCH: DJ Zinhle praises Fikz the Cook for teaching her how to cook

by Bongiwe Mati

After it was brought to light by award-winning Kairo Forbes that her deejay and multiple business owner mom Ntombezinhle “DJ Zinhle” Jiyane couldn’t cook, she took it upon herself to learn how to do it.

The deejay, who celebrates 20 years in the entertainment industry this year, can be forgiven for her inability to cook as she spends a lot of time cooking hits in the studio, making mzansi dance to some of the most popular songs ever made.

While visited by Thando Thabethe and the 947 radio team, Kairo detailed that her mother had only made her eggs. Thando further asked if it was a full breakfast with eggs, bacon and mushrooms and she responded by saying she only knows eggs and toast.

DJ Zinhle went on social media to look for someone to help her with cooking lessons with many people recommending Fikile Zungu, also known as Fikz_the_Cook. She then decided to give her a chance and went on to share her first lesson with the chef.

Taking her first lesson online as Fikile is out of the country, the ERA by DJZinhle accessory brand owner shared that she was nervous and panicking. Clearly impressed with the chef, she further recommended the chef to anyone interested in learning how to cook, adding:

“She knows what she’s doing, she made it work.”

Cooking prawn pasta for Kairo, who was not feeling well, and her husband, the mother of two shared her pasta dish, adding:

“She’s even more obsessed about the presentation, she doesn’t play like that,” said DJ Zinhle referring to Fikile.

Taking the food to where Kairo was, Zinhle was happy to see that her daughter was enjoying her cooking. She dropped another pasta dish to her husband, music Bongani “Morda” Mahosana who also enjoyed her cooking.

Success!! @Fikz_the_Cook and I had our first cooking lesson today. She made it fun and educational. I can’t wait for our next lesson. pic.twitter.com/lqo76iVirG
