South Africans got a bit of relief when a total of seven suspects in the Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane murder case were arrested, appearing in court yesterday for the murder of the two.

AKA and his longtime friend Tibz were gunned down outside the Wish establishment, a restaurant situated in the busy street of Florida in Durban.

A statement released by the police details that the brutal murder was a hit organised by an unnamed person. It is said that AKA was followed from the time he landed at the airport, with spotters following his every move. At the restaurant where he had his last meal, there was another spotter who kept others informed of the rapper’s movement.

It was also revealed that a total of R800,000 was paid for the rapper’s murder which also took Tibz’s life, who wasn’t part of the hit.

From what the police have shared, it is not clear who made the payment to the mastermind’s or rather the coordinator’s account, and no reason has been shared on why they wanted the rapper dead.

According to reports, among the five suspects who appeared in court were the firearms organiser, two spotters, the shooter who killed Tibz, and the mastermind or coordinator who received the R800,000. Lindani Ndimande, Lindokuhle Mkhwanazi, and Mziwethemba Gwabeni were among those who made a brief court appearance.

The case was postponed to March 6th.
