Aloe vera, the succulent plant known for its soothing gel, is more than just a summertime sunburn remedy. It is also a powerful skincare ingredient that can provide many benefits for the face.

Here are five ways aloe vera can benefit your skin advised by EatingWell, a nutrition and lifestyle information portal:

  1. It has anti-inflammatory properties that can soothe irritated and inflamed skin.
  2. Aloe vera has antibacterial properties that can help fight acne and prevent infection.
  3. It is a powerful moisturiser that can hydrate and nourish dry skin.
  4. It has antioxidants that can protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals.
  5. This can help lighten dark spots and reduce the appearance of scars.

We cannot run away from the fact that we have different types of skin which means your skin might be sensitive to a certain product. According to FOREO, an information hub for well-being, when choosing an aloe vera product for your face, the first step is to identify your skin type. There are four main skin types: oily, dry, combination, and sensitive.

Once you know your skin type, you can choose a product that is specifically formulated for your needs. For example, if you have oily skin, you will want to look for a gel or serum that is oil-free and non-comedogenic (meaning it won’t clog pores). On the other hand, if you have dry skin, you will want to choose a product that is hydrating and contains humectants, added the above mentioned source.
