‘She also won’ – Internet reacts to Thandiswa Mazwai featured on Grammy-winning album

Internet users and fans of musician Thandiswa Mazwai are dubbing the singer as a Grammy winner after an album she was featured on won the prestigious award.

The Zabalaza hitmaker showcased her talents on American singer-songwriter, rapper, and bassist Meshell Ndegeocello’s song Vuma for the album The Omnichord Real Book. The project became the first-ever album to win a Grammy in the new category, Best Alternative Jazz Album.

Thandiswa, who is also known as King Tha, took to Instagram to congratulate the Grammy winner and expressed her gratitude for her contribution to the album.

“Honoured to have contributed to this incredible album. Congratulations @officialmeshell for winning the inaugural Grammy for Best Alternative Jazz. You have always created music that defies genre, and now in this historic moment, your genius is being celebrated.”

Thandiswa’s sister Nomsa Mazwai (also known as Nomisupasta) also took to Instagram to extend a message of positivity to her sister.

“My best friend, my number one supporter, my inspiration, my guide is featured on @officialmeshell new album which won a Grammy award. @thandiswamazwai is so much more than my sister, she is a maverick, a supernova, and a creator of trends with the most style.”

A proud Nomsa continued, “She is set to release her next album in the coming weeks, and I am so excited to hear her new offering. I love you Tantan and I’m so damn proud of you.”

News of the win took to X (formerly Twitter) where internet users stated that Thandiswa should also be considered a Grammy winner.
