While the Grammys is mainly centred around the lengthy awards ceremony itself, fashion aficionados and spectators also prepare themselves to feast their eyes on the fashion risks and statements made on the red carpet.

The 66th Annual Grammy Awards took place early morning on 5 February at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Hosting the A-lister-filled event – for the fourth consecutive time – was South Africa’s own Trevor Noah, who also received a nomination for his 2022 Netflix comedy special, I Wish You Would.

Being the host, it came as no surprise that the award-winning comedian had a few outfit changes.

Trevor looked dapper on the red carpet in a white shirt and blazer, and a black bowtie.

Another standout outfit Trevor donned was his all-black ensemble. As much of a celebrated star as Beyonce is, and although not on the carpet, Trevor sparkled brightly in his black suit while pictured next to the hitmaker.

Shining light on another South African male figure is Grammy nominee Musa Keys. The Limpopo-born star made his debut on the Grammy red carpet baring his chest in head-to-toe black.

Musa was nominated for Best African Music Performance for his collaboration with Nigeria’s Davido for their song Unavailable.

One cannot forget to include South Africa’s youngest-ever Grammy winner – Tyla. The Water hitmaker, who was up against Musa in the same category, stunned in a green Atelier Versace dress with some added gold in the form of her shiny award.

Ditching her iconic dreadlocks for a sleek hairstyle, new mom and songstress Halle Bailey wowed a few fashion lovers with her see-through and sequined Gucci dress.

Another artist who stole the show was singer-songwriter Victoria Monét. The Best New Artist winner glistened in a bronze custom Atelier Versace gown.
