Social media influencer Kefilwe Mabote recently became the talk of the town on social media platforms after she was accused of faking her lobola celebration and marriage.

Now deleted, Kefilwe, also known as Kefiboo, shared images of herself on Instagram last year in traditional attire, surrounded by family members at the celebration as well as a video of herself with a herd of cows.

One of her captions read, “03•01•2023. This time it is to infinity. I remember God’s teachings vividly, stumbling across Psalm 37:4, which read: ‘Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.'”

As per ZiMoja, sources close to Kefilwe stated that the influencer claimed that she is the third wife of an unnamed, wealthy businessman. The source alleged, “There was never a marriage, that entire thing was staged for content. The poor guy nearly lost one of his wives after she posted those pictures, the wife thought he secretly married her without her knowledge.”

Another source told ZiMoja that Mabote roped in her family, and they agreed because they know that’s where she makes her money. pic.twitter.com/s5pIFry4DG

An additional source told the above-mentioned publication that Kefilwe had allegedly involved her family who agreed to be a part of the celebrations as that is where the influencer allegedly makes her money.

“We all knew at the time that it was just for content. She also did it to make her well-known ex-boyfriend jealous after he left her for another influencer. She fooled her followers and other celebrities who were quick to congratulate her,” added a source. “The bigger the following, the bigger the bucks. If indeed she was married, where was her hubby during the festive season because she was on vacation with her friends.”
