Looking for love? Make sure your first date doesn’t take a turn for the worse by avoiding these culinary faux pas.

From messy meals to overindulging in alcohol. Here are the five things to avoid ordering on a first date advised by YOU – a magazine that offers advice on beauty, fashion, relationships, parenting and health:

  • Spaghetti: Slurping up long strands of pasta is probably not the most attractive thing to do on a first date.
  • Anything that requires a lot of chewing: Things like tough steak or chewy bread can be difficult to eat, and you don’t want to be too distracted by your food to focus on your date.
  • Food that’s messy to eat: Messy foods like ribs or chicken wings can be a recipe for disaster on a first date.
  • Alcoholic drinks: While a glass of wine or a beer can help ease the nerves, it’s best to avoid overindulging on a first date.
  • Expensive dishes: There’s no need to break the bank on a first date. You can still enjoy a delicious meal without spending a fortune.
  • Foods with strong odors: Avoiding foods like garlic, onions, or curry can help you avoid any unpleasant aromas during your date.

2oceansvibe, a website that covers a variety of topics, including lifestyle, food, with a section dedicated to ‘love and dating’, says that making a good impression on a first date is important. After all, the food you order can say a lot about you.
