5 Ways to store bread

Keeping your bread fresh doesn’t have to be complicated. With a few simple steps, you can enjoy delicious, fresh bread every day.

Here are five easy ways to store your bread and keep it fresh suggested by The Kitchn – a food site made by a staff of home cooks, and The Food Safety Initiative (FSI) – a nonprofit organisation that works to improve food safety across the country:

  1. Store bread in a cool, dry place.
  2. Keep bread in a bread box or container.
  3. Wrap bread in a paper bag or cloth.
  4. Freeze bread to extend its shelf life.
  5. Toast or reheat bread before eating.

While you would like to keep bread and not damage it during storage, you can also use this popular leftover staple in a few of the below creative ways as suggested by Food and Home:

  • Make croutons for soups and salads.
  • Make breadcrumbs for meatballs, breading, or stuffing.
  • Make French toast for breakfast or brunch.
  • Make bread pudding for dessert.
  • Make breadcrumb trails for birds and squirrels in your backyard.
  • Make a bird feeder out of a baguette or loaf of bread.

Keeping your bread fresh is easier than you might think. By following these steps, you can enjoy fresh, delicious bread every day. So, the next time you’re at the grocery store, pick up an extra loaf of bread and try one of these storage methods. Your taste buds will thank you later!
