South African non-profit museum Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa – also known as Zeitz MOCAA – based in Cape Town is set to host its annual gala on the 11th of February which aims to raise funds for surrounding communities.

The museum invited artist Athi-Patra Ruga to transform the museum with his colourful style for the gala.

“The upcoming event would be enhanced by incorporating the artist’s extensive body of work, thus adding an extra layer of aesthetic value to the already charming experience,” said a statement released by the museum.

According to local publication IOL, the museum will also offer its esteemed Zeitz MOCAA Honorary Awards for Philanthropic Achievement and Artistic Excellence, honouring a remarkable person in each category for their significant contributions to the art environment.

With businesswoman and beauty pageant titleholder Jo-Ann Strauss hosting the prestigious evenmt, the gala also sees musical guests, singer and songwriter Simphiwe Dana and Nobuhle Ashanti Trio performing at the grand celebration this year.

The museum also emphasised the significance of recognising pioneers in modern African art, highlighting their accomplishments and encouraging a new generation of artists, therefore sparking a revolution in the arts, by demonstrating how their distinct views and creative expressions impacted a new generation of African artists, revolutionising the art world.

The museum recently made an announcement regarding their upcoming gala via a video on their social media.
