Big Zulu misses a chance to profit off big collaboration

by Sergio Miller

Hip-Hop musician Big Zulu has recently lost an opportunity to cash in on big bucks. This comes after one of his signed artists recorded a hit song which went platinum.

As reported per Sunday World, Big Zulu revealed that he agreed that he allowed his protégé Lwah Ndlunku (born as Lwandile Mtshali) to collaborate with fellow musician Maghandeni Manqele, on his song Paris, free of charge.

According to Zulu, it’s always been a normal thing for people in the industry to do these types of favours for one another. So, when he was approached, he never hesitated. Adding that there was no formal agreement between the two sides.

Meanwhile the rapper would never have predicted that this song would become a household name.

Last month the duo received a platinum plague from the Recording Industry of South Africa (RISA) for the hit. Zulu meanwhile claimed to not have benefitted a single cent.

“Sometimes as artists we do each other favours for the sake of brotherhood and unity. Now it seems Mthandeni SK is not keen to work with Lwah Ndlunkulu again because of the runaway success of the song,” the Imali Eningi hitmaker told the publication during the interview.

Meanwhile he revealed that he was proud of Lwah’s rise in the industry.

“What can we do? I am happy for Lwah Ndlunkulu anyway, because her rise and success reflect the hard work, we put in behind the scenes at Nkabi Records.”
