As a parent it will warm your heart to see your children the most fun, they possibly can this holiday season.

While most boys and girls often opt to keep themselves entertained on the play station, there is nothing that brings a family closer than a nice fun board game.

Buckslib – an online information library – states: “Board games can be for two or more players. The foundation of board game playing is cooperation. It requires players to engage by teamwork. It is the perfect way to spend time in nice company and strengthen bonds with other human beings.”

In addition, this is ideal for way of stimulating your child’s brain areas that are responsible for memory formation and complex thought processes.

“Engaging in play assists in practicing essential cognitive skills, such as decision making, higher level strategic thinking, and problem solving,” explains the above-mentioned publication.

We have compiled a list of games that are guaranteed to bring your family laughter this holiday.

Snakes and ladders

This is considered an ancient Indian classic, which continues to be popular to this day. It is a game in which two or more participants can play at the same time. Board contains numbered griddled squares that goes all the way up to 100. There are also numerous snakes and ladders that connect these squares to one another. Players are required to roll the dice to navigate their way to the top.

30 seconds

This is an exciting multi-player game in which teams of two compete against one another. The way that the games work is one member is required to pick a card containing a list of five names of people places or movies. Without revealing this information, you then have to provide your partner with clues to identifying the names on your card.

Monopoly

This multiplayer game incudes the buying and trading properties while faced with the option of developing these properties to either houses or hotels. Players are also able to rent from their opponents which could drive them into bankruptcy or end up in “jail”.
