The late actor and theatre performer Jamie Bartlett popularly known for his Rhythm City character David Genaro proved the saying uttered by many that stars don’t die, they multiply when many social media users crowned him Mzansi’s favourite television villain.

This title given to the late actor by many X users (formerly known as Twitter) proves once again why Jamie was a three times SAFTA Award Best Actor winner.

Originally from Britain’s England, the multi-talented actor could have easily been mistaken for a real-life villain, due to how he mastered his David Genaro character on e.tv’s Rythm City.

Jamie sadly departed this earth in May 2023, leaving many Mzansi citizens saddened to have lost such a gem.

On X recently, social media user @Dineo_thulii shared four actors who played villains in South Africa’s popular series’ asking people to choose their favourite .

The characters shared include, David Genaro played by Jamie Bartlett, Sibusiso Dlomo played by Menzi Ngubane, Jack Mabaso played by Vusi Kunene and Barker Haines played by Robert Whitehead.

Looking at the comments from social media users, Jamie became an obvious winner others sharing some of his favourite David Genaro lines.

Users commented:

David Genaro is SA TV’s most loved villain; he plotted evil and avenged his enemies but he also laughed, cried, and displayed all his vulnerabilities.
Jamie’s ability to humanise the character is what made Genaro intoxicating and loveable.

He was a main ou!

RIP Jamie Bartlett! https://t.co/7ni51TJ73P
