Coming in quite hot this summer is the notorious pixie cut. What better haircut screams summer other than a slick and trendy pixie cut that can be styled in an unlimited number of ways?

Pixie haircut history

This iconic haircut has played a significant role on women within the black community even before mainstream society made it a blueprint. Black women all over the world made this look their go-to hairstyle, making it a very timeless look. The likes of Halle Berry, Nia Long and Jada Pinkett Smith paved the way for many black women to this trendsetter hairstyle.

Different ways to play around with the pixie cut

The fun part to this hairstyle is that it comes in various ways. So, whether your whole squad rocks it, worry not because you will definitely stand out in this hairstyle that can be styled according to your liking. You can add a bit of sass to yours by either having bangs, curls, or even have it a bit more edgy and messy.

Does a pixie cut require regular maintenance?

Like any other haircut, the pixie cut requires trimmings every now and again. According to Black Beauty Bomb Shells – a hub of carefully researched guides for Black Women hair – how often you get trimmed will depend on how often your hair grows and the look you are going for. The rest will depend on the look, style and texture that you are going for.

The different types of pixie cuts you can choose from:

  • 90s inspired
  • Short pixie cut
  • Bowl cut pixie
  • Short finger waves
  • Pixie with long bangs
  • Short and edgy with undercut
