It’s been three soon going on a four years since SABC 3 announced they were cancelling their most loved soapy, Isidingo: The Need and viewers are still taken aback by this decision.

This became evident when the Horizon Deep centered soapy trended on X (famously known as Twitter) after a social media user posed the question:

“What TV show got cancelled you’re still mad about?”

When the soapy was cancelled it was soon to celebrate 22 years of airplay. David Makubyane, the then SABC Acting Group executive was quoted saying the decision to cancel the soapy included poor audience ratings during its time slot and poor revenue which led to a poor return on investment.

Many internet users responded to the question on the one soapy they are still mad to have lost, adding:

Isidingo will always come first, That cast was perfect, So realistic.

Some shared how the death of Ashley Callie who played the role of Leone Haynes, Barker’s Haynes daughter affected them especially since it was incorporated in the soapy.

The death of Ashley Callie…’Leone Haynes’ in Isidingo. That death was devastating to me (as I was a loyal Isidingo viewer) Whats worse, is that she had died a few days earlier in real life. I was devastated.

More went as far as tagging SABC3, sharing they will never forgive them for the cancelation of the show.
