Grammy Award nominee Tyla has been toping local and international music chats since her global hit Water started trending on TikTok later making it to different airwaves across the globe.

The 21-year-old South African made history recently when she made it to the top 10 US Billboard Hot 100, debuting at number 10, as well as the Billboard Global 200, making number six on the list.

The singer who once mentioned in an interview that her parents were pushing for her to study saying being a musician is not a stable job has the world on her palm right now.

Tyla isn’t the only South African to feature in the billboard top 100 as the late Hugh Masekela’s single Grazing in the Grass took the number one Billboard song spot in 1968.

With this entry into the top 10, Tyla breaks the record for the highest charting solo song by an African female artist on Billboard top 100, officially surpassing the late Miriam Makeba’s Pata Pata song.
