Young Faf fan gets speedo signed by his hero

by Sergio Miller

It’s safe to say that the 2023 Rugby World Cup winning team achieved more than just winning the global showpiece in France – they also won the hearts of thousands of South African boys who can now dream big and aspire to become just like their heroes.

More recently, one young fan’s dream came true when he was granted the opportunity of meeting one of is all-time favourite rugby players, Springbok scrum-half Faf de Klerk.

According to a post by radio host Brent Lindeque, the boy’s mom shared a post on Facebook a week ago where she asked her friends where she could find a “Faf” speedo for her son who was a massive Springbok fan and big Faf de Klerk supporter.

Budget Insurance, who has a partnership with Bok number 9, later came across the post and invited the family to come and collect the speedo at their offices. Upon arrival the young boy’s biggest dream came true as his hero Faf was there himself.

Brent, who shared the young boy’s excitement, says that he was happy that his career allows him to witness things like these.

“I got to be there for the big surprise and then we sat down and I got to interview them all about the entire experience. Whose flipping life is this? Grateful for every opportunity. Really, really love what I get to do.”

Good grief, I bladdy love what I get to do.

Last week a mom took to Facebook to ask where she could get a “Faf” speedo for her little guy who is obsessed with the Bokke and loves Faf to bits. She explained that one day he wanted to be like Faf and play for the Springboks.… pic.twitter.com/bVUe5AmeKL

It was an experience the young man will never forget.
