Lesley-Ann Brandt introduces capetonian character in her latest series

South African born actress Lesley-Ann Brandt is eager to give international viewers a taste of mzansi flavour as she takes on the role of Pearl Thorne in a brand-new series called – The Ones who Live.”

This is a spin-off from the highly popular, The Walking Dead – a post-apocalyptic series about a group of survivors struggling to find safety under a zombie pandemic.

In the latest spin-off Lesley-Ann plays the role of Pearl, a South African girl from Cape Town.

Taking to Instagram Lesley-Ann was excited about introducing her character to her fellow citizens.

“Pearl Thorne. I had a hand in naming this character. Pearl, after my friend @pearlthusi. Originally written as French, I’m proud we landed on her being South African and from Cape Town. An accent you never hear on screen outside of SA.”

The talented actress who was born in the mother city before immigrating to New Zealand as a teenager, and later moving to the United States has always been true to her South African roots.

Earlier this year her and her family used the World Cup winning Springboks as their Halloween inspiration.

In 2019 the 41-year-old actress also selected Afrikaans as her language of choice for her demon character Mazikeen (Maize) in the series Lucifer, a decision that brought joy to the hearts of her South African fans.
