Burna Boy’s SA concert officially cancelled, TicketPro confirms

Nigerian music superstar Burna Boy will no longer be performing in South Africa on 16 December as it now appears he will be entertaining crowds in The Bahamas on the day.

Burna Boy was originally set to perform in SA on 23 September at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg. The concert was then postponed to 16 December after it was alleged that the former CEO of the company organising the event, Sedote Nwachukwu from Ternary Media Group, stole R10 million from the company.

The accusation was made by Sedote’s business partner, Gregory Wings.

The news publication SowetanLIVE obtained a police statement from Sandton police station containing details of the alleged fraud case which was opened by Gregory.

After the fraud accusation was made, it seems the concert’s postponement has turned into a definite cancellation.

The African Giant, as he is known, did not let the above-mentioned fraud accusations stop him from getting to the bag. As seen on Burna Boy’s official website – onaspaceship.com – he is set to perform at the Queen Elizabeth Sports Centre in Nassau, The Bahamas as opposed to the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.

According to SowetanLIVE, Mandy Claassen, a representative from TicketPro – the company that was in charge of ticket sales for the Burna Boy concert – said that as soon as it was mentioned that Burna Boy would no longer be coming to SA, the company started refunding people.

“We announced that they can get a refund, it’s an automatic refund. The people that paid manually had to request a refund,” added Mandy.
