‘I wish I die’- says Babes Wodumo

by Bongiwe Mati

Singer and dancer Bongekile “Babes Wodumo” Simelane has gotten many social media users concerned about her since the passing of her husband and father to her son, Mandlenkosi “Mampintsha” Maphumulo.

Mampintsha died at Durban’s King Edward Hospital on the 24th of December 2022 after suffering a minor stroke his record label shared.

Babes and Mampintsha who was 40 years at the time of his death were an inseparable pair. They were not only partners in marriage, but they were business partners. They featured each other in their songs and ran their record labels together. If you had invited Babes for an interview, it was almost guaranteed that Mampintsha would be with her.

Taking to her Instagram stories yesterday Babes wrote “Engathi ngingafa” translated in English as “I wish I die.”

The Instagram story was shared by many users on X (former Twitter) including controversial account @AdvoBarryRoux.

Yesterday before the alarming Instagram post, Babes was in studio with DJ Tira and Danger, the surviving member of the Big Nuz group which Mampintsha was part of.

Seeing the sad Instagram story post, social media users sent out prayers for the Wololo hitmaker, wishing those closest to her would assist.

Very sad, I hope she gets some assistance and support from whatever she’s going throug. ?
