Netizens react to Tol A$$ Mo’s outbursts on Showmax’s Unfollowed

by Bongiwe Mati

Episode three of Showmax’s Unfollowed saw a sit-down between director and show host Thembekile Mrototo and comedian, reality TV star and show producer Mongezi ‘Tol A$$ Mo’ Mahlangu.

In the sit-down, an emotional Tol A$$ Mo shared how the rape allegations that were leveled against him by model Lerato Moloi messed up his whole family’s lives.

Mo was accused of “sexual assault and rape” by model Lerato Moloi almost five years ago. The model alleged that the incident took place in 2014 while they were working on a television production in Cape Town. The comedian was later acquitted of those charges with the magistrate stating that the accuser was, “dishonest, egotistical and a belligerent liar,” read a statement from Mo’s lawyers shared by The Citizen.

In the interview with Thembekile, the comedian spoke of how he has always been about his work and his love for his family, even overlooking some of the accolades he received.

He shared:

“I mean I’m an Emmy-nominated comedian and I never brag about that; I’d rather talk about my kids.”

In a video clip that is circulating on X (Twitter), Mo spoke of how social media was so quick to get him cancelled after the allegations, adding that the whole smear campaign did not only affect him and his wife Mome, but his kids as well, as they couldn’t attend some events with him when he was viewed as a rapist.

He shared:

“Me as Mongezi, never have I ever been on the tabloid. ‘Mo cheating on his wife, Mo’s got a side bitch,’ never!!! But the first thing that compromises my integrity… Mo then burst out and screamed at the people behind the scenes saying: ‘Shut the fu%k up in the back please.'”

He then continued, “The first thing that compromises my integrity, I’m that? I’m a rapist? A person with two beautiful daughters and three beautiful kids.”

Social media saw the circulating clip of the outburst as a cry for help, commenting:

I see a man who’s crying for help, a man who’s dealing with a whole lot of issues. But he’s a MAN NOBODY IS GOING TO SAVE HIM.. instead society is going to laugh at him
