‘Arts and Culture please take care of Amapiano artists’- says DJ Maphorisa

by Johana Mukandila

South African DJ and music producer Themba Sekowe famously known as DJ Maphorisa calls on the Arts and Culture department in SA to help Amapiano artists.

The DJ says the genre is growing, and it has gained more international audiences, however, the Amapiano artists are struggling to get visas.

Taking to his Twitter timeline, now known as X, the musician requested assistance for Amapiano artists saying:

“I love to see people growing, Amapiano artist/DJs are doing more international gigs now, which means we represent Sauta. Arts and Culture should be doing something about this, we need your support not just money,” he wrote.

“We struggling with getting VISAS, we spent too much money get them. If u could create a system where we can get visas easy cause some artists/DJs get declined. The flag Must Go High,” he added.

The DJ ended off by saying:

“The flag Must Go Speaking my mind Arts n Culture please take care of Amapiano Danko.”
