This past weekend was a busy one for women. Not only was Miss South Africa 2023 crowned, but women were also celebrated at the second annual Basadi in Music Awards. If you missed the awards show, here is what went down.
The event took place on 12 August at the Joburg Theatre and had many of Mzansi’s favourites attending the prestigious event. Media personalities Pamela Mtanga and Robyn Nakaambo took the role as hosts of the red carpet.

Singer and radio presenter Unathi Nkayi hosted the show. According to The South African, Unathi replaced Khanyi Mbau on the day of the event, as she was originally announced as the show’s host. The statement was released on the awards show’s Instagram Story. However, no specific reason was provided.

Attendees were also entertained by a performance or two. According to TshisaLIVE, people got to enjoy the company of Andile Gaelesiwe, Khanyo Maphumulo, Tshedi Mholo, Winnie Khumalo and Tamara Dey plus the Gusheshes.
Regarding winners, Lwah Ndlunkulu left the night victorious after winning Artist of The Year and Song of The Year.
