Best home remedies for piles

by Unathi Balele

Piles, also known as hemorrhoids, is a common condition that affects many people worldwide.

According to Healthline, it occurs when the veins in the rectum and anus become swollen and inflamed. The symptoms of piles include pain, itching, and bleeding. While there are various medical treatments available, there are also many effective home remedies that can help relieve the symptoms of piles.

Let’s discuss some of the best home remedies for piles by Super Nutritious:

  1. Water: Drinking plenty of water is essential for keeping the body hydrated and preventing constipation. Aim for at least eight glasses of water a day to help soften stools and reduce the risk of developing piles.
  2. Sitz bath: A sitz bath is a warm, shallow bath that can help relieve the symptoms of piles. To take a sitz bath, fill a bathtub or basin with warm water and add a handful of Epsom salt. Sit in the water for 10-15 minutes to help reduce pain, itching, and inflammation.
  3. Ice pack: Applying an ice pack to the affected area can help reduce swelling and inflammation. Wrap a small ice pack in a clean towel and apply it to the anus for 15-20 minutes at a time, several times a day.
  4. Aloe vera: Aloe vera is a natural anti-inflammatory agent that can help reduce pain and swelling. Apply a small amount of aloe vera gel to the affected area several times a day to help relieve the symptoms of piles.
  5. Exercise: Regular exercise can help improve digestion and prevent constipation. Aim for at least 30 minutes of exercise a day, such as walking, jogging, or swimming.
  6. Avoid sitting for long periods: Sitting for long periods can put pressure on the veins in the anus and increase the risk of developing piles. If you have a sedentary job, take breaks and stand up and move around every hour.
