Mothers… get ready to be celebrated, as Olwethu Leshabane’s Art of Superwoman unveils the uMAMA Concert lineup and programme for this coming Mother’s Day.

Blogger and mother of three boys, Olwethu Leshabane, will host the special event. “The Art of Superwoman is a content platform where any content that is related to the modern-day women [and] the new mother or women trying to navigate life,” explains Olwethu to Bona.

When asked for her definition of the term ‘mother,’ Olwethu told Bona, “Any maternal figure in one’s life that has had a positive influence over their life. I am a firm believer in mothers coming in so many different forms.”

Olwethu added, “We are mothered by so many people – aunts, next-door neighbours, mothers’ sisters and friends. There is such a broad idea of what I have of [the definition] of mothers. It is particularly the maternal figures in my life that have contributed positively to my growth, to my becoming.”

The award-winning media entrepreneur shared that there are many maternal figures in her life, including her older godsister, aunts and mother-in-law. However, her mother and late grandmother played the most important roles in her life.

Event-goers will get to see headline acts such as award-winning hitmakers Zoë Modiga, Buhlebendalo and The Fem Band, Zolani Mahola, Sky Dladla, Austebza, Jude Harpstar and Bianca Blanc. Olwethu says that the lineup of female artists will pay homage to Mama Africa – the iconic Miriam Makeba.

“[These acts] are the current and future of jazz and soul in this country. We are going to see them bring to life Mam’ Miriam Makeba’s music and kind of bring the future into it,” said Olwethu to Bona.

The event is set to take place at NIROX Amphitheatre on 14 May 2023.

Tickets to the uMAMA Mother’s Day Concert are strictly limited to maintain the intimate setting. Early booking is advised to avoid disappointment.
