Whether you are working in an office or from home in your track pants – it’s likely that the majority of your time is spent sitting behind a desk. This is an important space in your day-to-day life. However, when days get a bit chaotic, your workspace suffers too. Your desk becomes so cluttered and you can’t even find a pen…

So, it’s about time to style it up! Having a desk set-up that’s well organised and decluttered with a hint of cute decor can boost your productivity. Plus, it’s always better to have a space that looks good.

Let’s level up your productivity like never before with these chic desk essentials:

Get your desktop sorted.

Your desktop is the focal point of your working space. Usually, the first thing on your desktop is your laptop or computer, usually positioned in the middle of your desk and fairly close to you.

Remember, your hands carry germs that may be transferred to your keyboard, so one of the very first orders of business is to keep your keyboard clean, and free from finger prints and dust. A clean space promotes a clear mind to focus.

Additionally, having a laptop stand can help with your seated posture, as your neck won’t have to bend downwards, with your laptop elevated on your stand. Plus, it looks tidy!

Don’t forget the photos…

Having pictures of friends, family and loved ones on display breathes life to your desk. When days become a bit hectic, these images can bring some light, and perhaps even put a smile to your face.

Never too many tissues…

Tissues can be easy to overlook as a necessity, but a box of tissues can make a big difference when sitting at your desk. You never know when you might have the sniffles or spill your coffee. Tissues come in an array of cute holders, so this may be a fun addition to your desk.

Don’t underestimate the power of a mint…

Impromptu meeting pop up at any given time? This is usually after lunch with your boss or an important client. A tin of mints is great for emergencies if you get caught with coffee breath, or your fishy lunch from earlier still lingers.

 Add a plant or succulent

An indoor office space can be quite overwhelming at times, when work is a stress and you feel the walls caving in. The addition of a plant or succulent is a nice spot of nature to add to your desk. Plus, studies show that plants can be calming and boost productivity as well.

Get yourself a pair of headphones or earpods!

When it’s crunch time, the headphone go on to keep you focused. Music holds the power to change a mood, promotes focus and concentration. While you are working, listening to a motivational podcast can get you through mentally tough days.

Other chic add-ons:

  • Stationery holders and pens.
  • Desk calendar.
  • A cute lamp.
  • Notebook or writing pad.
  • Sticky notes.
  • Acrylic desk accessory kit.
  • Hand sanitiser and hand cream.
  • A jar of sweets – a great moral booster!

Pro tip: even in the digital age, we can’t escape all paperwork. Keep your important documents together, and make sure none of them ever go missing again by keeping them filed.

Desk Tips:

  • Ensure your desk is clean and decluttered.
  • A little colour coordination never hurt anyone.
  • Ensure it’s set up neatly when you leave for the day, knowing you can start work the next day on a fresh note.

A desk you love needs to be aesthetically pleasing in order to inspire and motivate you to be super productive. Allow your personality to shine through your desk display. Be creative and ensure the layout works for you and your day-to-day.
