AKA’s bodyguard speaks out about the rapper’s death

by Staff Bona

AKA’s death in February this year has left many questions unanswered.

Many are wondering about the circumstances behind his assassination. What was the motive? Was it a targeted attack? Who did it?

AKA’s bodyguard shared his thoughts during a television interview.

Anwar ‘Dogg’ Khan appeared on journalist Annika Larsen’s show My guest tonight with Annika Larsen where he shared the information he had surrounding AKA’s death.

Khan has worked with some of the biggest names in the world, including Chris Brown, Oprah Winfrey and Boyz II Men.

During the interview,  Larsen said Khan was AKA’s bodyguard but was not with him on the night he died.

“I was AKA’s bodyguard in KZN for eight years. Whenever he came to KZN, I handled his protection. On that particular night, I had procured an international artist (Bas) but if I was available, I would have been with him,” Khan said.

He said he received the devastating news via a phone call on the night it happened and he was told by the protector on the call that “AKA is down”. The news only hit him when he was told through another phone call from the road manager that “Kiernan is dead”.

Khan revealed that protocol was breached on the night that AKA died and that he would not have let AKA go to Wish that night.

“Kiernan was called and invited to go to Florida Road, which he accepted and he went. Had I been there, that protocol would have not been breached, simply because that call would have come from the road manager,” he said.

Khan also said that despite AKA wanting to return to his “second home” in Durban, he stayed away out of respect after the death of his fiancée Anele Tembi in 2021, who was from KwaZulu-Natal.

Larsen then asked him whether anyone considered AKA an enemy and would have wanted him dead.

Khan said: “If Kieran had enemies, then it was bound to happen. But Kiernan has no enemies. If he had enemies, I would have known. Why would anyone want Kiernan dead? He was an icon, an idol, a mentor. He’s a supporter, a beautiful dad, and an inspiration to many people. He had employees who depended on him.”
