Everyday foods that can prevent heart diseases

by Unathi Balele

According to Heathline, heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. It can’t be cured or reversed, but many of the symptoms can be relieved with medications, procedures, and lifestyle changes.

There are several everyday foods that can help prevent heart disease. Here are some examples by Web MD:

  1. Oats: Oats are a great source of soluble fiber, which can help lower cholesterol levels.
  2. Fish: Fatty fish such as salmon, tuna, and mackerel are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which can help reduce inflammation and lower the risk of heart disease.
  3. Berries: Berries are high in antioxidants, which can help reduce inflammation and improve heart health.
  4. Nuts: Nuts such as almonds, walnuts, and pistachios are rich in healthy fats, fiber, and plant sterols, which can help lower cholesterol levels.
  5. Vegetables: Vegetables such as spinach, broccoli, and kale are rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, which can help reduce the risk of heart disease.
  6. Whole grains: Whole grains such as brown rice, quinoa, and whole wheat bread are rich in fiber and other nutrients, which can help lower the risk of heart disease.
  7. Legumes: Legumes such as beans, lentils, and chickpeas are rich in fiber, protein, and other nutrients, which can help lower cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of heart disease.
  8. Dark chocolate: Dark chocolate is rich in flavonoids, which can help lower blood pressure and improve heart health. However, it should be consumed in moderation due to its high calorie content.

By incorporating these foods into your diet, you can help reduce the risk of heart disease and improve overall heart health.
