Award-winning musicians Erykah Badu and Jill Scott‘s 3-hour long neo-soul battle on Instagram Live was everything and more. The powerhouses transported fans back to the unforgettable era of music in the first-ever ladies-only Verzuz battle since its inception almost two months ago. The battle is an ongoing series by producers Swizz Beatz and Timbaland which aims to entertain fans during quarantine.

The show which was set to start at 7 pm experienced its fair share of technical issues and kicked off at 7:20pm. What was meant to be a battle turned into an incredible bonding session between two friends playing some of their best work.
From her catalogue Jill played the classics such as He Loves Me, Getting In The Way, Slowly Surely, Honey Molasses, A Long Walk, The Way and Cross My Mind. Erykah also pulled out some faves including Tyrone, Bag Lady, Next Lifetime, Danger, Appletree and On & On.
The battle went on for an unprecedented 3 hours without being cut, a first for an Instagram Live resulting in an whopping 1 billion impressions. Among the fans some notable figures such as Michelle Obama, Spike Lee, and Quincy Jones, also watched the show.
