The benefits of sweating in summer

by Kwanele Mathebula
benefits of sweating in summer

There’s nothing as refreshing as being out on a beautiful sunny day with your friends or family. However, that day can quickly feel awkward if you start sweating, and it’s visible on your shirt.

But the best way to feel confident when you’re sweating is to use a deodorant like Shield’s 48 hour protection antiperspirant to keep you dry as you move all day.

However, you should know that it’s a natural process that we all experience and it’s how the body functions to keep us healthy. Sweating is good for you, and here’s why:

Promotes healthy skin

Sweating assists in cooling the surface of the skin and flushes out grime and impurities. It can also prevent infections from harmful bacteria such as Staphylococcus (a group of bacteria that can cause a multitude of diseases).

Detoxifies our bodies

Studies show that sweating plays a vital role in expelling heavy metals such as mercury, lead, cadmium, and arsenic from the body because they dissolve readily in water.

Regulates our body temperature

Sweat keeps us cool and prevents our bodies from overheating while we exercise or when we’re in hot, humid temperatures. hen our body temperature increases, sweat glands release sweat to decrease the temperature. So, when sweat is on your skin, it evaporates off your body, and you cool down

Can improve your mood

This applies to when you’re working out because as we sweat during exercise, we release endorphins. These are hormones that trigger positive feelings in the body – which is what we all need to be happy and healthy.

Quick recovery after workouts

Did you know that sweating boosts blood flow to the skeletal muscles? These muscles are responsible for moving the body and sweating helps in increasing recovery time from injury and muscle strain.

It is quite evident that sweat does more good than harm to your body. However, if you feel that you sweat more than you should, then it might be time to use an antiperspirant like Shield. It keeps your underarms smooth and dry so you can feel confident at all times.
