Our food editor, Ntwenhle Gcabashe shows you how to make this tasty and delicious red velvet cake like a master chef.

Prep time: 35 minutes
Cooking time: 45 minutes
Serve: 8-10

• 1 ½ cup cake flour
• 2 tablespoon cocoa powder
• 1 cup castor sugar
• 2 teaspoon baking powder
• 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
• 3 eggs, beaten
• 1 cup (250ml) oil
• ½ cup (125ml) buttermilk
• 1 tablespoon (30ml) vinegar
• 2 small bottle red colouring

Frosting
• 2 cup cream cheese, smooth
• ½ cup butter, soften
• ½ cup icing sugar
• 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
• Mixed berries to serve

1. Preheat the oven to 180˚C.
2. In a bowl, mix dry ingredients.
3. In another bowl, mix liquid ingredients. Pour over dry ingredients. Mix well and pour over lightly greased baking tin.
4. Bake for 35minutes and let it cool.
5. Frosting: Mix ingredients and icing the cake and serve with berries.
