John Kani to star in The Lion King Remake

The SA powerhouse will star alongside Beyoncé, Danny Glover and Alfre Woodard among others.

Legendary actor and director, Dr John Kani has been cast to star in Jon Favreau’s live action remake of The Lion King. The powerhouse will be the voice of Rafiki, who is Mufasa’s royal advisor. Kani will star alongside Hollywood greats like Alfre Woodard (Sarabi), Donald Glover (Simba), Beyonce (Nala), James Earl Jones (Mufasa) and Chiwetel Ejiofor (Scar). The movie is set for release in 2019. Kani’s son, Atandwa took to social media to share the exciting news.
