These artists have been nominated in the Best Female Artist in Southern Africa category.

Congratulations to Thandiswa Mazwai, Babes Wodumo, Lebo Sekgobela and Busiswa on their All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) nominations. The incomparable artists have been nominated for the Best Female Artist in Southern Africa category.

The awards which are in their fourth year, are a partnership with The African Union (AU) ultimately promoting African music & culture.

The awards will take place in Nigeria from the 10 – 11 November next month and fans can go to the website to vote for their favourite artists.

#WhoRulesAfrica || #AfricaDecides The music artist and legend; @thandiswamazwai, was raised by journalist parents which made her childhood inspiration full of African stories from Chinua Achebe, Steve Biko and Kwame Nkrumah. Thandiswa’s first Solo project titled “Zabalaza” in 2004 reached double platinum status, and her second “Ibokwe”  in  2009  reached gold status in its first few weeks of release. Thandiswa has performed all over the world at venues such as The Apollo in New York, Africa Brazil Festival and BBC Music Awards  and she’s shared the stage with music legends like Stevie Wonder, Sean Paul, Clark Khan,  Lady Smith etc. Thandiswa majors in Jazz, Traditional, Funk, and Afrosoul, and her Afrima2017 nominated song “Nontsokolo” is a jazz song with African wordings that sets in an 80’s/90’s feeling. #Anticipate #AFRIMA2017 Africa’s Biggest Music Event …for hope, for celebration! #WhoRulesAfrica || #AfricaDecides The South African Dance/electronic singer and poet, @busiswaah is also nominated for the AFRIMA2017 Best Female Artiste in Southern Africa category for her song “Ingqondo”. The Spoken-word artist and poet has been practicing and participating in the art of poetry since her 11th grade and had her first recording “Syaphambana” released in 2011 on Kalawa Jazmee’s 1st dance compilation. Soon after Busiswa was featured on DJ Zinhle’s “My Name Is” which exposed Busiswa to the music spotlight. Since then Busiswa has released a series of dance/electronic hits and has kept at it. Her AFRIMA 2O17 nominated song “Ingqondo” is a fresh track with a unique make in beat and rhythm. #Anticipate #AFRIMA2017 Africa’s Biggest Music Event …for hope, for celebration!
