Former president of the United States of America, Barack Obama is currently in South Africa to give a highly anticipated speech at the
#MandelaLecture. The 16th annual Nelson Mandela lecture celebrates the centenary of his birth. This is President Barack’s first trip to Africa since he left office in 2017, and it began in his father’s home country, Kenya.
Notable guests who will be at the lecture include members of the Mandela family, mama Graca Machel, former president of Liberia, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, King Mswati III, former UN SG Kofi Annan. Musical performances include award-winning musician Thandiswa Mazwai and the Grammy-winning Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
The former statesman will meet with President Cyril Ramaphosa at the Union Buildings in Pretoria before heading to Wanderers Stadium where he will give his address.
