Here are 4 practical ways to reduce wrinkles:

4 Practical ways to reduce wrinkles

Wrinkles are an inevitable part of ageing – the first wrinkles to appear on a person’s face tend to occur as a result of facial expressions, however, sun damage, dehydration and genetic factors affect where and how rapidly people get wrinkles.

1. Avoid the sun

Avoiding excessive sun exposure reduces skin damage because the sun causes the skin to age faster. Hats, protective clothing, and sunscreens can protect the skin from wrinkles by reducing sunlight damage.

2. Moisturise

Moisturisers do not prevent wrinkles, but they may help temporarily make tiny lines and creases less evident.

3. Stop smoking and reduce alcohol consumption

Stopping smoking can also help reduce signs of ageing – even a long-term heavy smoker can slow down the process by giving up.  Reducing or avoiding alcohol is also a good idea as it dehydrates the body and the skin.

4. Beauty Sleep

The concept of beauty sleep is not a myth either – sleeping at least 7 hours a night, eating healthily and exercising all help maintain overall health including skin quality.
